Concern for one of Germany's most successful rappers: After Haftbefehl (40) canceled two major festival performances, it initially remained unclear why the musician did not take the stage. On Sunday evening, the 40-year-old, whose real name is Aykut Anhan, broke his silence and announced he would be taking a break for health reasons.

On his Instagram account, the rapper wrote that it was not easy for him to make this matter public. "My dear people, many of you have seen the documentary and know that I have been struggling with health and personal challenges for some time", the statement reads. "Currently, I am not in the emotional or physical condition to perform."

"I fight every day"

The "great attention" following the Netflix documentary "Babo - Die Haftbefehl-Story" and "all the commotion" had put additional strain on him, Haftbefehl describes. In the documentary, the Offenbach native speaks openly about his childhood, his drug addiction, and his cocaine use. The consequences are also addressed: according to his account, Haftbefehl had to be resuscitated after an overdose.

As the rapper now explained, he needs rest and time to focus on his health and regain his strength. The musician does not provide specific details about his concrete condition. "I fight every day to get back on my feet, and I hope you have understanding for my situation." He thanked his fans for their support, patience, and respect. The message is simply signed "Your Aykut".

Kai Pflaume: "You are still needed"

Many comments quickly accumulated under the post, including from numerous celebrities. Fellow rappers responded, with Samra writing: "Lots of strength habibi! You can do this". Massiv wished "much strength and health my brother". Singer Elif left a red heart. Mia-Julia commented with: "Wishing you lots of strength." Ikke Hüftgold emphasized: "The only right step! And hats off for your openness in talking about it! All the best!" Jan Delay also sent "all the strength and patience in the world!" And host Kai Pflaume wrote: "Get well. You are still needed."

Two cancellations in quick succession

Haftbefehl's statement came just hours after his most recent last-minute cancellation. On Saturday evening, he was scheduled to be among the top acts at the Heroes Festival in Geiselwind. Shortly before the planned performance, however, it was announced that the rapper had canceled. Ski Aggu (28) spontaneously stepped in for him. Already in early June, Haftbefehl had canceled a performance at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt am Main. How long Haftbefehl will take a break remains open. In early July, the rapper was supposed to perform at the Open-Air-Fest Frauenfeld and at the splash! Festival. According to the tour schedule, arena concerts in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Berlin are on the calendar for the fall.
