Gustav Schäfer (37) lost a significant amount of weight during his participation in the RTL dance show "Let's Dance". The Tokio Hotel drummer trained for nearly three months for the format and, according to his own statements, lost around ten kilograms of body weight.

No Fear of the Yo-Yo Effect

In an interview with "bunte.de", the musician says: "It was ten kilos in total." He didn't consciously eat healthier during this phase, but he ate "very little" because dancing on a full stomach would have been difficult. At the same time, he drank a lot of water and relied on magnesium and omega-3.

The drummer wants to take a relaxed approach to the topic in the future. Fitness is important to him, but without dogma: "Being a bit fit is never wrong, but you should also enjoy life." For him, that also includes a good meal or an extra glass from time to time.

He's taking a calm view of a possible yo-yo effect, even though his everyday life currently leaves little room for exercise. He still tries to incorporate small units - "a few push-ups", for example, "for the mind". In the end, for Gustav Schäfer, the positive outweighs everything: one clothing size smaller, a good feeling - and the plan not to give away old pants, but perhaps to wear them again someday.

Audience Favorite with Moving "Magic Moment" Dance

Together with professional dancer Anastasia Maruster (28), he showed great ambition over several weeks and continuously developed his dance skills. Behind the scenes and on Instagram, he became one of the audience favorites of the most recent season.

Particularly moving was his "Magic Moment" dance, in which he addressed the story of his daughter and the difficult time before her birth. At the end of the performance, even his daughter Lotti - now ten years old - danced with him on stage, which deeply touched the audience and jury. Shortly afterward, Gustav Schäfer was eliminated from the competition in sixth place, but left a lasting impression with his emotional performance.
