With a parking lot rave in Berlin, musician Ski Aggu (28) kicked off the festival summer on Friday evening. Together with discount retailer Lidl, the rapper transformed the parking lot of the store at Sonnenallee 192 into an open-air party and a street shop for the new festival collection starting at 6 p.m. - and was subsequently surprised himself by the turnout.
"I knew that some people would come, but not that so many would come", the 28-year-old said afterwards in an interview. Despite the rain, around 5,000 fans showed up according to his estimate. "The atmosphere was awesome. The rain can't do anything to us", Ski Aggu continued.
The merchandise popup also showed the rush: The items from the festival collection offered there were sold out after about 15 minutes according to organizers. To heat up the crowd, Ski Aggu launched individual shirts into the audience using a T-shirt cannon.
Ski Aggu plays his new songs at Lidl rave
The rapper not only stood behind the decks, but also used the evening to present his new music. According to his own statements, in addition to a song from his announced album "Ski Aggu Musik", he also played several previously unreleased tracks. "I really played a few unreleased songs that I actually made in the last few days", he revealed. The fans' reactions make him optimistic: "The track from the album was really well received. I'm confident."
After his announced break at the end of 2025, Ski Aggu seems to be full of energy again anyway. Although he caused a stir after his return with a changed look and unusual performances, he doesn't want to hear anything about a personal transformation. "I took a break, but I haven't changed", he made unmistakably clear. Instead, he is "full of energy". Everything that comes from him in the future will be "even harder than what came before".
Fittingly, a busy summer lies ahead. Ski Aggu didn't know exactly how many festivals he will perform at in the coming months, but estimated the number at "12, 13, something like that".
This is the World Cup winner Ski Aggu is betting on
Finally, the Berliner took a look at the World Cup, which has been running since Thursday. Is he rooting for Julian Nagelsmann's (38) German national team? "Yes of course, naturally", he answered. More than that: The rapper firmly believes in winning the title. "I'm saying now, for the record: Germany will win the World Cup final 1-0." The DFB team will enter the tournament on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. with its first group match. The opponent will then be in Houston, Texas: Curaçao.
