New charges have been filed against British musician Gary Glitter (82) for alleged offenses. As London police reported to the BBC on Thursday, the former glam rock star faces four additional historical charges. The allegations relate to the period between 1978 and 1981 and allegedly involve a girl who was under 13 years old at the time of the offenses.

Specifically, Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is accused of one count of unlawful intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14. The alleged acts are said to have taken place in a residence in the Kensington district of London.

According to police, the allegations were reported in January 2025. In July of the same year, Glitter was questioned as part of the investigation. On August 5, he must now appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court in London.

Already in Custody Since 2015

Gary Glitter is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2015 of attempted assault, unlawful intercourse with a girl under 13, and abuse.

In February 2023, the musician was released on parole after serving half of his sentence, but had to return to prison just one month later for violating the terms of his release. An application for renewed release was denied in June 2025.

Long History of Offenses

The musician, who became famous in the 1970s with hits like "Rock and Roll" and "Do You Wanna Touch Me", first ran afoul of the law in the late 1990s. In 1999, he was convicted of possession of child abuse material.

After his release from prison, Glitter left Great Britain and settled temporarily in Vietnam. There he was again convicted of child abuse. After his return to Great Britain in 2008, he was placed on the offenders register for life. Another arrest followed in 2012, which ultimately led to his conviction in 2015.
