By now, it's not just the World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the USA in full swing. Since June 29, another major sporting event has been taking place in London - the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Anyone who follows both sports faces scheduling conflicts with so many matches on both sides of the Atlantic, despite the time difference. This is currently evident in the case of David Beckham (51), who as a former professional soccer player is naturally present on-site in North America - but as an Englishman also wants to grace the home tennis tournament.

At Wimbledon's opening on Monday, he hardly showed signs of his recent travel exertions. Together with his mother Sandra Georgina West (77), he watched the narrowly won opening match of current world number one Jannik Sinner. It has long since become a tradition for the former captain of the English national team to appear with his mother in the Royal Box to follow the Wimbledon tournament.

Back to King Soccer on Wednesday?

The previous Saturday, Becks was still in the USA, more precisely at MetLife Stadium in the state of New Jersey near New York City. There, his Three Lions struggled in his presence in the stands to a 2-0 victory against Panama in the last preliminary round match.

Hard to imagine that Beckham would miss the English national team's first knockout match next Wednesday. On July 1 - and with a kickoff time at 6:00 PM CEST surprisingly early - England will then face DR Congo at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia.

For a reasonably stress-free journey, Beckham would therefore probably have to jet back to America sometime during the course of this day. Alexander Zverev's (29) first-round match in Wimbledon against Alexander Blockx (21) could be cutting it close for Becks. The French Open champion faces the Belgian world number 36 starting at 3:40 PM.
