Fans of the US national soccer team may have enjoyed looking at the stands more than watching the field. Against already-eliminated Turkey, they suffered a surprising 2-3 defeat in their final World Cup group stage match.

At least the nearly 70,000 spectators at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, could console themselves with having witnessed the painful loss in the presence of several world stars.

Among others, Hollywood star Brad Pitt (62) was in attendance and naturally dressed up in honor of King Soccer in a dark blue USA national team jersey. According to reports, he also had an animated discussion with his former "Fight Club" partner Edward Norton (56).

Paris Hilton (45) meanwhile used the game for a glamorous family outing. Together with husband Carter Reum (45) and their two children Phoenix and London, she appeared in a glittering matching look. Hilton sang along to the national anthem with her hand on her heart. She was also allowed to enter the field holding her children's hands, as additional footage shows.

One star apparently gave both teams the celebrity thumbs-up

The friendly acting trio Alison Brie, Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse were also spotted at the stadium. As were their colleagues Jessica Alba, Will Ferrell, Malin Åkerman and Joey King. The latter apparently couldn't quite decide on one team: The "Kissing Booth" actress wore a USA cap on her head, but combined it with a Turkish team jersey.

As conciliatory as King's outfit was, US fans should be satisfied with the tournament's progress so far. Despite the defeat against Turkey, the US team qualified for the round of sixteen as group winners. On July 2nd, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina awaits them at Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.
