David Beckham (51) and his wife Victoria (52) attended the first semifinal of the World Cup. The couple took their seats in the stands of Dallas Stadium in Arlington in the U.S. state of Texas for the clash between France and Spain.

For the former captain of the English national team, it was far from his first appearance at this tournament. Just a few days earlier, the Beckhams had watched England's quarterfinal victory against Norway in Miami.

Before the semifinal, the former professional enjoyed a typically American experience. Together with son Cruz, he stopped by a well-known barbecue restaurant in Dallas and appropriately put on a cowboy hat, as footage from Dallas Texas TV proves. Afterward, he and Victoria headed to the sporting highlight of the day, the battle between France and Spain for a spot in the final.

Spanish Royal Family Stayed Away

The Furia Roja did not receive backing from the Spanish Royal Family this time. King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía were in Barcelona on Tuesday. There they attended the presentation of the Princess of Girona Awards at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, as confirmed by the Royal Household in its official calendar.

However, the Spanish team had not been entirely without royal support during this tournament. King Felipe had already attended the group stage match against Uruguay in Guadalajara at the end of June.

Celebrities in the Stands

Beyond the Beckhams, familiar faces were also spotted throughout the stadium. Television cameras captured Spanish Oscar winner Javier Bardem, who was cheering in a Spanish national team jersey. The avowed Spain fan had already watched the quarterfinal against Belgium in Los Angeles, that time alongside his wife Penélope Cruz.

Alongside Bardem, sprint stars and Olympic champions Noah Lyles and Usain Bolt watched the athletes from the stands. Steve Aoki provided entertainment before kickoff. The star DJ performed on the field and got the fans in a celebratory mood.
