Jay-Z (56) opened his 30th anniversary concert series with support from his own family. At the opening concert at New York's Yankee Stadium on Friday evening (July 10), the rapper brought his wife Beyoncé (44) and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter (14) on stage one after another.

For "Can't Knock the Hustle", the 56-year-old actually had Mary J. Blige by his side, who originally sang the song with him. However, on this evening, Beyoncé stepped in for her and took over her part, as videos on X show.

As she sang the song, Beyoncé walked across the stage. When her line ended and the song faded out, Jay-Z threw her an "Oh, she can sing". She passed the compliment on to the audience: "Applause for my baby", the singer said, drawing a smile from her husband.
A little later, Blue Ivy joined them. The 14-year-old accompanied her father on "Feelin' It" and took over the piano solo at the end of the 1996 track, as another clip shared on X shows.

Blue Ivy at the Piano
The audience acknowledged her performance with loud applause. "Make some noise for the legendary Blue Ivy Carter", Jay-Z called out before father and daughter embraced for a long time.
That his daughter makes a good impression on the piano was something Jay-Z had already hinted at in March to the magazine "GQ". He described her as "an insane pianist". She strictly refuses a teacher: "She won't let us hire a teacher for her. She doesn't want it to become a job. But she has perfect pitch. When she hears a song, she says, 'Play it again,' and then she teaches it to herself."
Blue Ivy has gotten plenty of stage experience in recent years, though alongside her mother. In 2023, she performed on stage during the "Renaissance World Tour", followed by the "Cowboy Carter World Tour" in 2025.
Experience from Her Mother's Tours
The "Renaissance" tour was initially supposed to be just a single appearance. However, after the then 11-year-old read negative comments about her first performance, she insisted on trying again. She practiced until the choreography was perfect.
Two years later, the now 13-year-old returned significantly more confident. Over 32 shows in three months, she danced for the full length of each three-hour concert alongside her mother. In individual moments, she even stood alone in the spotlight, such as during a dance routine to Beyoncé's 2006 hit "Déjà Vu", which made the rounds online and was affectionately dubbed "Déjà Blue" by fans.
