Embarrassing moment during the World Cup final broadcast on US network FOX. When the cameras captured Hollywood star Matt Damon (55) in the VIP box at MetLife Stadium, reporter John Strong (41) said: "Brad Pitt is among the fans." His co-commentator, former soccer player Stu Holden (40) corrected him: "That's Matt Damon!"
John Strong took the fail with humor. "I'll let you handle the rest of these guys," he said laughing to Stu Holden as the camera panned to Mick Jagger (82). After correctly identifying the first three stars, he had become overconfident and messed up Matt Damon.
Besides Matt Damon, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, among others, watched Spain's victory over Argentina. Brad Pitt was also, in John Strong's defense, on the guest list in New Jersey but was not captured by the cameras in the stadium.
Why Matt Damon Was Rooting for Argentina
Matt Damon attended the final alongside his wife Luciana Barroso (49). The wife of the "Odyssey" star wore an Argentine national team jersey in the stadium. She was born in the province of Salta in northwestern Argentina.
The South American has been married to Matt Damon since 2005, and they have three daughters together, who were born in 2006, 2008 and 2010. They met in 2003 in Miami. Damon was seeking shelter behind the bar from intoxicated patrons in a bar where Barroso worked.
