While the hard riffs of the ongoing festival are still pounding in Wacken, the organizers are already looking ahead to next year. On Thursday evening, they confirmed 14 more bands for Wacken Open Air 2027. On Instagram, they announced Electric Callboy, Blue Medusa, Carnifex, and Heaven Shall Burn, among others.

Also on the list are Imminence, Jinjer, Malevolence, Make Them Suffer, Sylosis, The Browning, The Narrator, Hiraes, Mittel Alta, and Shadow of Intent, who are announcing an exclusive set for the tenth anniversary of their album "Reclaimer". The next prophecy from the famous skull is already in the works, the post stated.

First names were already confirmed

While the first wave from Wednesday was heavily dominated by Black Metal, Death Metal, and classic Heavy Metal, the second wave is noticeably targeting a younger audience. Already announced were Belphegor, Crypta, Dethklok, Gaerea, Kanonenfieber, Napalm Death, and Witch Club Satan.

There will also be a special performance where Abbath, Ice Dale, and Armagedda will bring the album "Between Two Worlds" to the stage in its entirety.

Anyone wanting to see these bands next year will need to act fast as always. Information about ticket sales is expected to follow in early August.

Festival in full swing

Before that happens, there's still the current festival to enjoy. The 35th Wacken Open Air has been running since Wednesday, July 29, and ends on Saturday, August 1. This year too, all 85,000 tickets are sold out. So far, the festival has been unusually dry in the heat: mud, otherwise a reliable Wacken classic, has been absent so far. The musical highlight thus far was Def Leppard, who played in Wacken for the very first time as first-timers on Thursday evening.

Electric Callboy already graced the Holy Ground this year, albeit in a different constellation. On Wednesday, the musicians performed as the DJ project Electric Bassboy and sang live to it.
