They're fighting for a jackpot in the Colombian jungle and battling temptations that could reduce their winnings: For Micaela Schäfer, Giulia Siegel, and Janina Youssefian, life in the wilderness is nothing new. Long before competing for the jackpot on "Dschungel Divas" (starting August 3, 10:55 PM on Sat.1 and Joyn), they already faced the challenges of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!". While one made it close to the finale, the others mainly generated buzz with headlines and conflicts.
Micaela Schäfer
Micaela Schäfer entered RTL's jungle camp in 2012 during the sixth season. The former "Germany's next Topmodel" contestant regularly generated buzz with her revealing outfits and open personality. She performed well Down Under and narrowly missed the finale. She ultimately placed fourth, while Brigitte Nielsen became the jungle queen.
Giulia Siegel
Giulia Siegel took on the Australian adventure as early as 2009. In the fourth season, she was one of the most polarizing campers and repeatedly had discussions with her fellow contestants. However, it wasn't enough for the title. She voluntarily left the camp due to back pain and placed fifth out of ten. Ingrid van Bergen became that season's jungle queen.
Fifteen years later, Giulia returned for "Ich bin ein Star - Showdown der Dschungel-Legenden" (2024). In the all-stars season in South Africa, exclusively former jungle camp participants competed against each other. Once again, she missed making it to the finale and placed tenth.
Janina Youssefian
Janina Youssefian participated in the 15th season in 2022. However, her stay ended unusually early: After making a hateful slur against fellow camper Linda Nobat, she was removed from the show by RTL. This makes her participation one of the shortest and most controversial in jungle camp history.
Other Adventure Formats
Other "Dschungel Divas" contestants are also used to tough conditions in reality shows. Kate Merlan, for example, participated in "Reality Backpackers" in Peru. Pinar Sevim and Ingrid Pavic faced "Kampf der Realitystars" in Thailand. And Christin Okpara and Bellydah moved into the spartan camp of "Das große Promi-Büßen".
