Harry Styles (32) shows how to recover from a mishap in style. The singer lost his footing during the second concert of his tour stop in Mexico City. He slipped on the rain-soaked stage floor during the song "Are You Listening Yet?" and fell backward onto his side.
But the former One Direction star stayed cool and turned the fall into an internet hit. Styles remained on the ground, propped himself up on one side, and simply continued singing into the microphone as if the fall were part of the choreography. The audience rewarded his casual demeanor with cheers, as videos on TikTok show. Afterward, he continued dancing without interrupting the show's flow.
Severe weather disrupted the schedule
Bad weather had accompanied the concert evening from the start. As Billboard reports, heavy rain swept over the eastern part of the metropolis and forced organizers to postpone the start for safety reasons. British singer Jorja Smith, who accompanies Styles in Mexico as the opening act, was unable to perform at all. Hundreds of visitors in the uncovered sections sought shelter.
Styles himself addressed the weather from the stage. "¡Viva México!", he called out in Spanish before continuing in English: "Thank you so much for being here. Is everyone okay? Okay, it's like sweating when you think about it. You survived the rain. Thank you for being here. This means so much to us." 68,000 people attended the show.
Six nights in Mexico City
Mexico City is the second Latin American stop on the "Together, Together" tour after São Paulo and the city in the region where Styles is giving the most concerts: He's performing six times in the Mexican capital.
For his third tour, the singer put together a format that keeps him in one location for an extended period. The journey began in May in Amsterdam, and he then played twelve consecutive concerts at London's Wembley Stadium. After Mexico, New York, Melbourne, and Sydney are still on the schedule, with 30 dates scheduled at Madison Square Garden alone from August 26 to October 31. The occasion is his current album "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally".
The tour hasn't been entirely smooth recently anyway: During his performance at Wembley on June 26, Harry Styles choked on his water and went to the ground coughing. On July 21, he canceled a concert in São Paulo just hours before it was scheduled to begin due to health reasons.
