Drake (39) lost a $1.5 million bet on the 2026 World Cup final. The Canadian rapper had predicted before kickoff on Sunday that Argentina would defeat Spain within regular time. But in the end, Spain became the new world champion with a 1-0 victory.
If the South Americans had won, betting provider Stake would have paid out more than $5.1 million. Instead, Drake could only reach for his phone. He posted a screenshot of his betting slip on Instagram before the final whistle and commented with the words: "What do they say??? Better luck next time..."
The "Drake curse" has its own website

Argentine fans reacted nervously when news of the million-dollar bet made the rounds. The betting provider itself had publicly announced the wager on X on July 18. Perhaps Lionel Messi (39) and his colleagues already suspected that winning in New Jersey would be difficult.
The rapper's recent track record alone gave cause for concern. In February, the Canadian lost one million dollars according to "Fox Sports" because the New England Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. At the US Open, another $300,000 was added, bet on a Jannik Sinner victory over Carlos Alcaraz. Things aren't going any better off the field either. Another million dollars cost him his belief that Irish fighter Conor McGregor would win his UFC fight against Max Holloway.
