Sat.1 is continuing 'Der letzte Bulle'. The continuation of the crime series is financially secured by the 'Film- und Medienstiftung NRW'. According to the announcement, 1.5 million euros have been approved for the second season of the reboot. In the funding notice, only Seven.One appears as the broadcaster. The previous streaming partner Prime Video is missing.
Successful Reboot Aired on Sat.1 in Fall
Originally, the series ran from 2010 to 2014 on Sat.1. In fall 2025, the reboot launched with the comeback of cult cop Michael 'Mick' Brisgau (Henning Baum). For this, ProSiebenSat.1 brought online giant Amazon on board to share production costs. That's why 'Der letzte Bulle' initially didn't air on free TV, but instead on Prime Video in late October 2025. At the end of November, the eight new episodes were shown on Sat.1. Since then, the episodes have been available on Joyn.
Despite good ratings during the linear broadcast - an average of more than 1.9 million viewers tuned in - Sat.1 had long refrained from commenting on a continuation of the series reboot.
What's Planned for the New Episodes
According to the funding application, another eight episodes are to be produced. In front of the camera, Henning Baum as Mick Brisgau, Torben Liebrecht and Peri Baumeister remain on board. Thomas Nennstiel and Friederike Heß will direct, and the scripts come from Regine Bielefeld and Marcus Raffel.
About the content, the announcement reveals: 'After Mick loses his family, he focuses on his chosen family at the precinct.' Because he stays true to himself professionally, he becomes the target of prosecutor Ralf Berger (Liebrecht). He not only questions Brisgau's methods, but also pursues his own career goals.
Carolin Berger (Baumeister) - forensic pathologist, wife of Ralf, Mick's affair - has decided on a self-determined life, but the connection to the two men remains charged with tension. 'Family is not about origin, but about who stands by your side in decisive moments,' the announcement states.
'Der letzte Bulle' premiered in April 2010 on Sat.1. Over five seasons and 60 episodes, Henning Baum, in the role of police officer Mick Brisgau who awakened from a 20-year coma, solved criminal cases. In June 2014, the last episode flickered across the screens. In November 2019, a feature film with the same title, also with Baum in the lead role, came to German cinemas.
