"Immer wieder sonntags" Canceled This Week: Here's Why

For the first time this season, "Immer wieder sonntags" is canceled: On July 26, ARD will broadcast the sports event "Die Finals" from Hannover instead. Still, host Stefan Mross won't have the weekend off, as a special with Andy Borg is being taped in Rust.

Next Sunday, fans of German pop music will have to do without their usual morning television program. The music show "Immer wieder sonntags" with host Stefan Mross (50) from the Europa-Park Arena in Rust will not air on July 26. The reason for the break is ARD's sports programming.

"Die Finals 2026 Hannover" Takes the Time Slot

Starting at 10 a.m., the network will broadcast the multi-sport event "Die Finals 2026 Hannover", which is taking place this year in the capital of Lower Saxony. Instead of pop music and entertaining conversations, viewers will see various sporting competitions:

Archery, climbing, gymnastics, canoeing, weightlifting, windsurfing, track and field, rapid surfing, beach volleyball, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, and basketball are listed in the TV schedule. In between, the network will also broadcast the Tour de France. The sports marathon ends on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. with a rerun of "Tatort: Game Over" (2023) from Munich.

Andy Borg Takes Over the Stage in Rust

Still, the Europa-Park Arena in Rust won't be empty next weekend. Already on Saturday, July 25, SWR and MDR will tape the TV special "Sommer-Spaß mit Andy Borg" there starting at 8:15 p.m.

The guest list includes Helmut Lotti, Nicole, Olaf der Flipper, the group Die Paldauer, and Joey Heindle, among others. Stefan Mross is also among the invited guests.
