Race driver David Schumacher (24) and his wife Vivien Schumacher (25) have just announced that they are expecting their first child. The son of Ralf Schumacher (51) and his ex-wife Cora Schumacher (49) now explains to "Bunte.de": "We're doing great." His wife Vivien has been experiencing a very beautiful pregnancy so far. "A+ with a star. She's doing very well. It's been really good from the start."
The expectant parents already know the baby's gender but don't want to make it public yet. And they're also keeping to themselves when the baby is due. The decision to have children early was very deliberate, the 24-year-old says: "For my wife Vivien and me, it was pretty clear that we wanted to become parents early. Simply because at a later time we can still have fun with the child as young parents."
Ralf Schumacher looks forward to grandpa role
Ralf Schumacher also sees no problem with his son being only 25 years old when the child is born. What matters are the life circumstances, he previously told "Bunte.de", and in this case they're right: "Many people are still studying at that age. He's already settled."
Ralf Schumacher also sees his own role in a relaxed way. He's glad to be able to do many things together with his son in his early 50s, he said. When asked how it feels to become a grandpa at 51, he answered with a reference to his hair color, which fits quite well. And continued: "Well, I think it's great, I'm really excited. This way I can experience everything relatively fit, if I'm lucky."
Wedding in February
In February, David Schumacher and Hungarian-born Vivien got married in the presence of family and close friends and then showed the wedding on Instagram. This was preceded by a marriage proposal in the Maldives in November 2025.
Father Ralf Schumacher said "I do" to his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne (36) this year, with his son standing by his side as best man.
David and Vivien Schumacher made the pregnancy public on August 5 with an arranged photo on Instagram. The image shows a mirror in the grass against a mountain backdrop, reflecting a picture of the couple, along with a teddy bear, a cream-colored blanket and knitted baby shoes. "Love made us two. Life is making us three", the two wrote.
