Cristiano Ronaldo (41) seems to have processed the bitter World Cup exit of the Portuguese team by now. Instead of standing with the trophy, the soccer star was now standing shirtless on a rocky beach in Mallorca, flexing his muscles. Next to him in the Instagram post: his oldest son Cristiano Jr. (16), who did the same. The superstar wrote two words on Instagram that leave no doubt about who, in his eyes, won the muscle comparison: "Not yet", meaning "not yet".
The punchline becomes clear at first glance at the photos. The father's toned abs have been considered a kind of second trademark for years, alongside his goals. In this regard and by direct comparison, the teenager still has some work to do. In one discipline, however, the offspring has already caught up: At around 6'2", Cristiano Jr. is now just as tall as his famous father.
From youth team to role model
The junior, who turned 16 in June, plays in the youth academy of Al-Nassr. It's the same Saudi Arabian club where his father is also under contract. The young forward dreams of one day playing alongside him for the club. Until then, he has to make do with teasing during family vacations.
In the comments under the post, fans reacted enthusiastically to the little competition. "The next GOAT", wrote one user, alluding to the acronym for "Greatest of All Time", which has been attached to Ronaldo senior for years. Another was certain: "The dream is getting closer."
Will he get married this weekend?
Also on vacation is Georgina Rodríguez, to whom Ronaldo proposed in December. Whether the term "fiancée" will remain accurate for much longer is currently unclear, however. According to reports, the couple could be getting married as early as this weekend. The speculation was fueled by a detail in the vacation photos: Ronaldo was wearing a conspicuous diamond ring.
The fact that the wedding took so long had a sporting reason. In an interview with Piers Morgan, the soccer player explained that he wanted to wait until after the World Cup: "I hope I will come to my wedding with the World Cup trophy." As we know, that didn't happen.
Nevertheless, Ronaldo is no longer thinking about postponing. "I will marry her because I think it's the right time", he told Morgan. "Not just because she's the mother of my children, but because she's the person I love the most."
