When a Slipknot musician publicly calls for calm, there's certainly a reason for it. Jim Root (54) posted a message on his Instagram stories on Sunday that leaves everything open yet reveals a lot: "Don't believe everything you read. Think. Breathe. Let it sink in for a while. Maybe. Maybe you even wait until there's more information." The reason is reports that his bandmate Sid Wilson (49) has allegedly been kicked out of the metal band.
The guitarist provided no further explanation. Root was also unavailable for comment according to "Page Six". Wilson himself and the band have also remained silent about the rumors so far.
The news apparently came on a Friday evening
"TMZ" got the ball rolling. According to the US outlet, Wilson was informed of the separation on Friday evening. This has not been confirmed by any side yet, and that's apparently exactly what Root's appeal to the fan community is aimed at.
Wilson has been with Slipknot since the band found its still-known lineup in 1998. He joined as the ninth member one year before the self-titled debut album and has since been responsible for keyboards, turntables, and sound effects. On stage, he performed under the code "#0".
Four months after the split with Kelly Osbourne
For Wilson, this would be the second major change within a few months. In March, it became known that he and his fiancée Kelly Osbourne (41) were going their separate ways. The two had last appeared together publicly at the Grammy Awards in February 2026.
Osbourne has been mourning her father Ozzy Osbourne since last year, who died of a heart attack in July 2025 at the age of 76. "Kelly is struggling with the loss of her father," the "Daily Mail" quoted an unnamed source at the time. The grieving process has been exceptionally difficult, she's trying everything to cope with it.
However, the death was reportedly not the sole reason for the end of the relationship. There had been problems for a long time, it was said, things were not as they appeared from the outside. Osbourne and Wilson were a couple for four years and have a three-year-old son together named Sidney.
