Anna-Maria Zimmermann can reassure her fans. Following the health incident that forced the pop singer to abruptly cancel her concert over the weekend, the 37-year-old has reached out via her Instagram story to give the all-clear. "I'm doing great, really", she wrote to her followers.
Nevertheless, the shock ran deep. During her performance on Peißnitz Island in Halle on Saturday, Zimmermann had to stop after just the first song. Medical personnel took care of the singer backstage. Pop star Oli.P stepped in at short notice to replace Zimmermann.
The musician had actually planned a packed schedule for that Saturday. In addition to the performance in Halle, concerts in Münster and in the Baltic Sea resort of Boltenhagen were on her agenda. After the collapse, however, continuing with the program was out of the question.
"My body briefly said STOP"
The singer herself cannot say with certainty what exactly was behind the collapse. In her Instagram story, she addressed the many concerned inquiries: "Many have asked what it was? I don't know. Something between: heat, exhaustion, many things on my mind." The high temperatures that day likely played their part.
For Zimmermann, the incident was above all a clear signal. "My body briefly said STOP and I listened to it", she explained. Nevertheless, she is not taking the incident lightly and had herself checked out as a precaution.
At the time of her statement, the singer was at the clinic with her son, according to her own account. "Today I'm at the hospital with my little superhero for an examination, but we'll be heading home soon and then we'll cuddle like crazy", she wrote.
In the coming days, Zimmermann wants to consciously slow down. This desire for more rest doesn't come out of nowhere either. Already at the end of last year, Zimmermann had announced on the ZDF show "Volle Kanne" that she would perform less frequently and plan more time for her two sons, because a summer with four to five working days and only two days at home is hardly compatible with family life.
