Nearly six years after the death of Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020), a dispute over the late Hollywood star's estate has erupted. According to court documents, cited by "Page Six", the two brothers of the "Black Panther" actor, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, have filed a lawsuit against Chadwick's widow Taylor Simone Ledward (36) on behalf of their parents.
The family is demanding that Ledward be removed as administrator of the estate. They also want her to be ordered to distribute the inheritance according to a court decision already made in 2022. According to the documents, the estate is worth more than $3.8 million.
Allegations against Chadwick Boseman's widow
The dispute revolves around the distribution of the assets. According to the agreement, Ledward was to receive 50 percent of the estate, while the remaining 50 percent was to go in equal parts to his parents Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. However, the plaintiffs accuse Ledward of not having made this payment to this day.
Furthermore, the family claims that Ledward has not disclosed all assets. These include royalties, residual payments from acting fees, rights to Boseman's image and intellectual property, as well as a previously undisclosed bank account. They also believe that income from the actors' union SAG-AFTRA since 2020 has not been fully accounted for.
The court documents also accuse Ledward of managing the rights to the late actor's name and image through a company she controls, thereby profiting solely from his legacy. She is also alleged to have denied the family lucrative business opportunities that could have particularly benefited Boseman's elderly parents.
Chadwick Boseman died on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43 from colon cancer, which he had kept private for years. Just a few months earlier, the actor and Taylor Simone Ledward had secretly tied the knot. He did not leave a will.
