For over ten years, speculation persisted, and now Cara Delevingne (33) is clearing it up herself: The British model was indeed once in a relationship with US actress Amber Heard (40). On "The Louis Theroux Podcast", Delevingne spoke openly about their shared history. In 2016, the two made headlines when they were spotted together in London shortly after Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp (63). "We were close for a long time, and when they got divorced, yes, we were involved with each other", Delevingne said.

It All Started on a Film Set

The connection reportedly dated back to 2013. At that time, Delevingne, Heard, and Depp were filming together for the crime thriller "London Fields" with Billy Bob Thornton. Behind the scenes, according to Delevingne, there were other tensions at play.

Theroux brought up the "thing with Johnny Depp" and speculated that he had been "driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you". Delevingne didn't dodge the question: Depp had been "quite consumed by jealousy" during filming. The shoot took place two years before the couple's wedding.

Others in the Picture Too

"At that point, nothing happened", the model clarifies, however. "Later, after her divorce, yes, I guess. No, I don't guess. I know. Yes." The connection wasn't exclusive though: The newly divorced Heard had been "with other people too", according to Delevingne, without naming names. Theroux helped out: "Well, with Elon [Musk]." Delevingne's response: "There you go."

From Love Triangle to Courtroom

The later legal battle between Depp and Heard attracted worldwide attention. In 2019, Depp sued his ex-wife after she stated in an op-ed for the "Washington Post" that she had been a victim of domestic violence. In the 2022 defamation trial, Depp was awarded 15 million dollars in damages, a sum that was later reduced.

Heard has since withdrawn from Hollywood and now lives in Madrid with her three children: daughter Oonagh (5) and twins Agnes and Ocean, who were born in May 2025.
