Ben Tewaag (50) has gotten engaged and he found love on one of the most famous pilgrimage routes in the world. The happy news was first announced by the son of acting icon Uschi Glas (82) via his Instagram account, where he posted a photo with his partner. The winner of "Promi Big Brother" 2016 captioned it with the line "Find what you love & let kill you!", translated as "Find what you love and let it end you".

Speaking to "Bild", Tewaag confirmed the engagement and also revealed who the woman by his side is. "Yes, it's true, I'm engaged to Elena", he told the publication. He describes his future wife as a "hot-blooded Italian with Sicilian roots" who speaks seven languages, is 41 years old, and lives in Spain.

What Ben Tewaag appreciates about his fiancée

The 50-year-old also revealed what particularly excites him about Elena. "We're both adventurers and what I find especially great about her: She is incredibly educated", Tewaag gushed to "Bild". "And she has a voice that blows me away." Elena also gets enthusiastic when talking about her fiancé. "What connects us is our humor, the irony. He is clever and sharp-witted and makes me laugh", she told the publication. "We're riding the same wave."

When and where the two want to get married, they're not revealing yet. However, Tewaag made it unmistakably clear that he's serious: "I'm 50 now. That's the right age to get married."

Brought together by the Camino de Santiago

The couple met on the famous Camino. Tewaag first walked the nearly 800-kilometer-long Camino de Santiago in 2022. Last year, he was drawn back to the route from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela. That the route meant far more to him than just a sporting goal became apparent early on. "The Camino de Santiago is pure happiness", Tewaag had already told "Bild" in September of last year.
