German national team star Joshua Kimmich (31) traveled to North America several weeks ago, as he is an important pillar of the German squad for the currently ongoing World Cup. The team captain's wife had apparently not been on site until now. That has now changed: Lina Kimmich has landed in the USA, as she shows on her Instagram account.

In her stories, she published a photo on June 23 that was taken in New York. Unfortunately, the weather on site doesn't seem to be quite cooperating. Shortly afterward, Kimmich shared a rainy snapshot and asked: "Uh, weather?" According to a report by "t-online", she had previously posted in a story that is no longer available a photo of several suitcases, to which she wrote alongside a USA flag: "I'll come along at some point too..."

Soccer Fans Should Be Patient

With this, Lina Kimmich is currently staying quite close to the German team's next venue. On June 25, the team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann (38) will play their final group stage match against Ecuador at MetLife Stadium, which is called New York New Jersey Stadium during the World Cup. As ZDF reports in a service article generally aimed at fans, she should set out early if she wants to support her husband at the stadium. According to the report, "the venue chosen for eight World Cup matches including the final [...] is extremely difficult to reach in terms of transportation". According to the advice, German fans should bring patience.

German fans who want to watch from home have two common alternatives. MagentaTV holds the rights in Germany for live broadcasting of all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup. ARD and ZDF will broadcast a total of 60 matches live without a paid subscription. This also includes the third group stage match on Thursday, which will be shown starting at 10:00 PM on Das Erste and in the ARD media library. Additional matches with German participation as well as the final, independent of that, will also be broadcast live on the public broadcasters and their respective online offerings.
