Ryan Reynolds (49) mingled with fans at Comic-Con in San Diego incognito. The movie star visited the world's largest convention for comics and their adaptations over the weekend - in costume as his cult movie character Deadpool. He posed for photos with other cosplayers who had no idea they were standing next to the real deal.

Reynolds appeared in an atypical Deadpool outfit. Instead of the usual red, his costume was mostly gray. Deadpool has never been seen on screen in this outfit. Only in the comics has the antihero already worn this color.

On X, Ryan Reynolds posted a reel with photos from his undercover mission. "The fans brought Deadpool to life so many years ago", he wrote. "Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' I felt so happy to be on the #SDCC show floor - together with all those whose uncompromising enthusiasm brings so much joy to this world", the actor continued.

A short time later, Ryan Reynolds followed up on X. "No handlers, no security, no velvet ropes. WHAT LUCK", he raved about his incognito appearance. And continued: "Thank you to everyone I met who not only cosplays but creates entire worlds".

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool Crashes "Avengers" Panel

After his unrecognized dip into the crowd, Ryan Reynolds crashed a panel for the upcoming Marvel spectacle "Avengers: Doomsday". He according to media reports first introduced himself as a cosplay fan named Ricky. Then he continued: "The first question is for Mr. Paul Rudd. Where is Thor, and why was he crying?" With this, Reynolds was referencing a scene from the 2024 film "Deadpool & Wolverine", in which Chris Hemsworth's Norse thunder god holds the dying Deadpool in his arms in a future-set scene.

Rudd, who apparently recognized him, joked: "Is he a Wrexham fan?", referring to the soccer club that Reynolds and his friend Rob Mac own. "When do you start filming", Reynolds asked, knowing full well that "Avengers: Doomsday" had already been shot. This was then confirmed by Robert Downey Jr. (61), who plays the titular villain Doctor Doom. "The film is already in the can, buddy. Look around. Did you hit your head?"

After a brief pause, a dejected Deadpool replied: "I understand. So there are no additional shoots, no extra costs, no unforeseen expenses - maybe last-minute additions?" Then he said brusquely: "No further questions. Happy Hogan, get the Audi. We're leaving." Reynolds dropped the microphone and left Hall H.

Is Deadpool in "Avengers: Doomsday"?

Ryan Reynolds' visit as Deadpool to the "Avengers" panel fueled speculation that the character could appear in "Doomsday". So far, a guest appearance has not been confirmed, but surprise cameos are not uncommon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
