Actor Frankie Muniz (40) and his wife Paige Price are going their separate ways. The American, known from the series "Malcolm in the Middle", made the separation public on Wednesday on social media. The two were married for seven years and were a couple for ten years in total.

"Most natural as a deep friendship"

In his statement, Muniz describes that the decision was preceded by a quiet phase: "After a period of separation that we kept to ourselves, Paige and I have decided to end our marriage." After "ten beautiful years together", both had developed in such a way that they realized their relationship felt "most natural and strongest as a deep friendship and in co-parenting".

At the center of this is their son. He remains "the center of our world", the actor says. They are "happier, stronger parents because of the love and shared growth" they shared.

"She was always my biggest supporter"

Muniz becomes particularly personal when talking about his soon-to-be ex-wife. "I am infinitely grateful to Paige for everything she has done for me and our family", he writes. Price put her own dreams aside so he could pursue his - and was always his "biggest supporter". This "foundation of respect and friendship", the 40-year-old emphasizes, will remain.

The two also want to stay connected beyond family: Together they want to continue building their racing project Muniz Racing. In addition to acting, Muniz is also active as a race car driver. They want to continue caring for their son "with the same teamwork and the same love" as before.

Request for privacy

In conclusion, Muniz frames the separation as a new beginning: They are closing "a chapter with gratitude" and opening the next one with a "bright future" - for both as individuals and "especially for our son".

The couple does not want to answer questions about the separation. At the same time, Muniz asked his followers to respect the family's privacy "during this time".
