After 34 years on stage, Michelle (54) is ending her career as a pop singer. Her final television appearance is planned for June 27 on the ARD show "Schlagerbooom" with Florian Silbereisen (44). After that, the 54-year-old, whose legal name is Tanja Hewer, wants to completely withdraw from the music business.
The decision was not made spontaneously, Michelle told the "Bild" newspaper. An internal process had developed over the years that led her to this decision. She wants to drop the stage name Michelle - both professionally and in everyday life.
Spiritual healer as new professional field
Instead of concerts and TV appearances, Michelle is planning to work as a spiritual healer in the future. She completed healer training about twelve years ago, followed later by training as a medium. Starting in mid-July, she wants to initially offer individual online sessions, including so-called afterlife contacts and conversations to process negative beliefs. "I want to help people heal. No longer just with music. But directly. Personally. Profoundly", she explained to the tabloid.
According to her own account, she found the name for her new offering during meditation: "Wakan" - a term from an indigenous language that means something like "holy" or "spiritual energy". She wants to build her platform under this name. Michelle initially left open what the specific offering will look like and what scope it will take.
"Fun grandma" for her grandchildren
In her private life, Michelle is a mother of three daughters and now also a grandmother - a second grandchild is on the way. "I think I'm the kind of fun grandma who just does silly things with the little one", she says laughing and adds: "Children are the purest thing there is."
Actually, a wedding would have been on the agenda, as her partner Eric Philippi (29) had proposed to her on stage at her last concert in Berlin in February 2026. But a few weeks later, they broke up. In the meantime, both have also deleted all shared posts on Instagram.
