After announcing an extended break in summer 2024, Adele (38) might soon return with new music. The superstar reportedly spent several days in a London studio recently. The singer is known for working hard and then largely withdrawing from the public eye for extended periods. According to a report by the tabloid newspaper The Sun, Adele secretly flew to the English capital this month to visit the Church Studios. She reportedly wrote and recorded new songs there over the past week.
Sightings of other stars fueled hopes that Adele could release collaborations on a new album. For instance, Justin Vernon (45) of Bon Iver was reportedly seen outside the studio last Wednesday. Gracie Abrams (26) apparently shot a music video in front of the studio around the same time, according to reports.
A musical departure from Hollywood?
Adele is spending at least fourteen days in London to write and record music, an unnamed source from the music scene told the newspaper. There were reportedly several studio sessions last week, and appointments are also scheduled for this week. However, Adele wants to keep the whole thing discreet.
A second insider reports: Adele has been living in L.A. for a decade now, and although she loves it there, her roots in London are very important to her. People close to her have encouraged her to return to the place where she grew up. The London-born singer's most recent album was well received but was very much in the Hollywood style. The people originally loved Adele because she was down-to-earth and relatable, so she's trying to bring that back by drawing inspiration from her hometown, the insider speculates.
After her Weekends with Adele shows in Las Vegas and a concert series in Munich in 2024, things had gone quiet around the singer. My tank is pretty empty right now, she told ZDF before the Munich concerts. And: I want a big break after all this. At that time, she hadn't planned any new music yet.
