Jennifer Lopez has spoken about a stressful phase in her career. In an episode of the podcast "SmartLess", the 56-year-old described how she collapsed physically after months of constant stress. "When I was filming 'Enough,' I think I had filmed about four movies back-to-back and recorded my second album. I worked and filmed every day - you know how it is, all those long hours."
She was also very busy away from the film sets: In the evenings, she worked in the studio on new music, and on weekends there were press appointments and video shoots. Only in retrospect did she realize the extent of the strain. "I remember that I didn't even realize I had worked about 98 days in a row without taking a day off", she recounted.
Lopez had to go to the hospital
But the overload eventually made itself felt. Lopez recalls: "Every time I go to set, my heart starts beating a little faster. Eventually it got to the point where I thought: 'I'm really nervous,' and there was the little girl from 'Enough' with me. And I said: 'I'm sorry, sweetie, I'm feeling kind of strange today.' I said: 'I'm a little tired.'"
At first, Lopez retreated to her trailer to rest. But shortly afterward, her condition deteriorated significantly. "It was almost like I couldn't see clearly anymore, like something had covered my eyes, and I couldn't move anymore", Lopez continued. In this situation, she turned to her longtime friend and assistant. "I said to her: 'Arlene, I can't move. I can't see anything.' She said: 'Stop it, Jennifer, you're scaring me.' And I said: 'No, I really can't move. You should get someone.'"
Upon arriving at the hospital, Lopez looked for an explanation for her condition. She said she asked the attending physician if she was losing her mind. However, he denied this and explained to her that her body had "shut down" as a result of extreme exhaustion and urgently needed rest.
New film storms the Netflix charts
Currently, the new romantic comedy "Office Romance" starring Lopez can be seen on Netflix. In it, Jackie Cruz (Jennifer Lopez), CEO of a major airline and pilot, falls in love with the new company lawyer Daniel Blanchflower (Brett Goldstein). Their secret affair puts both careers at risk.
Just three days after its launch on June 5, the film recorded 20.9 million views. This is according to the streaming provider's weekly statistics. In 63 countries, the film landed at number 1 among the most-watched films, including in the USA, Canada, and Germany.
