Since 2006, 'Goodbye Deutschland' has been following people as they make a fresh start abroad. Many of them became known to a wider audience through the VOX documentary, including Jens Büchner and Caro and Andreas Robens. But some already brought their celebrity status with them: pop singers, reality TV personalities, former politicians, and TV entrepreneurs also allowed cameras to follow their lives far from home.
Michael Wendler
Michael Wendler was already one of the country's better-known pop singers before appearing on 'Goodbye Deutschland.' With songs like 'Sie liebt den DJ' and numerous TV appearances, he had already made a name for himself before VOX accompanied his move to the United States. In Florida, the singer searched for a new home with his then-wife Claudia and daughter Adeline. Cape Coral became the family's new home, and 'Goodbye Deutschland' showed them house-hunting, among other things.
Angelo Kelly
Angelo Kelly was also a familiar face when he appeared on 'Goodbye Deutschland.' As a member of the Kelly Family, he had already celebrated major success in the 1990s. Later, VOX showed his new life in Ireland, where he lives with his wife and their children. The format covered topics including family life, living in the countryside, and the family's musical work.
Ronald Schill
Ronald Schill was known nationwide long before 'Goodbye Deutschland' - first as a judge, later as Hamburg's Interior Senator and controversial politician. After withdrawing from German politics, he moved to Brazil. VOX accompanied him in Rio de Janeiro, where he lives in a simple house with a roof terrace. In one episode, the former politician received a visit from Janina Youssefian, with whom he had previously appeared on 'Promi Big Brother.'
Ross Antony
Ross Antony became known as a member of the casting band Bro'Sis and subsequently built a successful career as a host, musical performer, and pop singer. He wasn't featured on 'Goodbye Deutschland' as an unknown emigrant either: VOX followed him and his husband Paul Reeves for a time in England, where the couple operated a bed and breakfast. The show provided insights into their daily life on the island and the challenges of being entrepreneurs.
Fürst Heinz
Karl-Heinz Richard von Sayn-Wittgenstein, better known as Fürst Heinz, was already in the public eye as an entrepreneur and TV personality before 'Goodbye Deutschland.' He had gained television experience with his own show 'Der Immobilienfürst,' among others. He later appeared on VOX in the emigrant universe, including on Mallorca. There, his business ideas and private life repeatedly provided material for the cameras.
Oksana Kolenitchenko
Oksana Kolenitchenko made a name for herself before 'Goodbye Deutschland' through shows including 'Deutschland sucht den Superstar.' On 'DSDS,' she made it to the recall round in 2013. Later, VOX followed her and her husband Daniel during their life in the United States. After stops in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the focus shifted to include not only family life but also her career plans and the couple's business projects.
