They Still Watched the Semifinal from the Couch

The family had watched the semifinal against France together in front of the television. After the 2-0 victory, they fell into each other's arms.

King Felipe had already supported the national team on site during this World Cup. He watched Spain's 1-0 victory over Uruguay in the group stage live at the stadium in Guadalajara. With the victory, the team secured first place in the group. Now the team, also called "La Furia Roja", must prove itself one last time and could secure its second World Cup victory ever. In 2010, it won the final over the Netherlands.

A Family Passionate About Football

The Spanish have good chances with a strong tournament performance and as reigning European champions. At Euro 2024, Felipe and Sofía congratulated the national team directly on the pitch.

The younger royal daughter was also present with Queen Letizia at the 2023 Women's World Cup final when Spain defeated England 1-0. In 2025, Leonor and Sofía traveled together to the Women's European Championship final in Basel. There they also met Prince William and Princess Charlotte. The British heir to the throne and his daughter could celebrate back then: The English women prevailed 3-1 against Spain in the penalty shootout.
