Prince William (44) and Princess Kate (44) interrupted their summer break and visited the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this Saturday together with their three children. Prince George (13), Princess Charlotte (11), and Prince Louis (8) accompanied the couple, who hold the titles Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland.
For the three children, it was according to "The Telegraph" their first official appearance in Scotland ever. Public family outings at this time of year remain the exception: William and Kate traditionally withdraw from the public eye for a few weeks in summer when the children have school holidays.
The family watched the women's netball semifinal between Jamaica and Australia at the Hydro Arena. "The Sun" describes eight-year-old Louis in particular as visibly in high spirits. Previously, he had participated in the coronation celebrations for King Charles in May 2023, in addition to family events such as Trooping the Colour or the Christmas and Easter services.

The couple's schedule also included an appointment with SportsAid. The organization supports young talents, and Kate has been its patron since 2013. According to "The Sun", names that were supported early by SportsAid include Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds, Jessica Ennis-Hill, and Tom Daley, among others.
Sporting events are one of the few occasions when the children publicly accompany their parents. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Charlotte, then seven years old, traveled with her mother and father for the first time without her siblings. She watched hockey, swimming, and gymnastics at that time.
This summer, George and Charlotte also sat in the stands at the Wimbledon men's final, in which Jannik Sinner prevailed against Alexander Zverev. Louis was absent from that event. Kate subsequently presented the trophies as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
