Matthias Reim (68) publicly congratulated his daughter Romy on her 18th birthday. On Instagram, the singer posted a photo together on Sunday that apparently shows the two of them backstage. Romy has her arm around her father, both are smiling at the camera.
"All the best to you on your 18th birthday!", Reim writes. "Even though you're now an adult, you'll always remain my sweet little daughter! No matter how big or old! With love, your Dad."
His daughter has rarely been in the spotlight
The post is particularly notable because Reim otherwise largely shields his private life. Romy comes from his third marriage, which lasted from 2004 to 2013 and from which a son was also born. Unlike some of his older children, Romy has never sought the public eye.
Matthias Reim is the father of seven children from different relationships. Some of them are also musically active: Julian Reim from his second marriage and Marie Reim from his relationship with singer Michelle have pursued their own careers in pop and schlager music. His youngest daughter Zoe was born in 2022 and comes from his current marriage to singer Christin Stark.
He dedicated a song to his youngest: In the single "Willkommen in meiner Zukunft", Reim sings: "I say: Welcome to my future, big as a planet. To make it perfect, you were just what was missing. I say: Welcome to my life, you fit in so well. Because you are my gift from heaven. That only happens once and it can't be greater."
New album in September
Professionally, Reim has a busy fall ahead. His studio album "Flashback" with 15 new songs will be released on September 18th according to the announcement. In addition to "Willkommen in meiner Zukunft", it also includes the duet "Keine Freunde bleiben" with Mia Julia.
At the same time, the tour for the 35th anniversary of his breakthrough hit "Verdammt, ich lieb' dich" is running, which began in May in Wetzlar and includes more than 30 cities. In October, arena dates will follow in Hamburg, Cologne and Stuttgart, among others, and around the turn of the year Reim will perform in Berlin, Cottbus and Rostock.
