Twelve months after the death of Malcolm-Jamal Warner (1970-2025), his widow has spoken in detail on television for the first time about the tragic day. Tenisha Warner said in an interview with "CBS Mornings", which aired on Thursday: "It's still a shock." She still cannot remember large parts of July 20, 2025, to this day. She also no longer knows exactly where she was when her husband drowned in Costa Rica.

"I think my body was in shock", Warner explained further. "It's really hard for me to relive all of this because it breaks me in a way that makes it hard for me to stay composed." It was the worst day of her life and she could only think about their daughter, who was eight years old at the time of the accident.

Still Living in Their Shared Home

Tenisha Warner still lives in the family home today, even though their shared home reminds her daily of the loss. "It hurts. I can't be in my own house without feeling the loss, but I also can't leave", she described. "He's always with me." The hardest thing for her is seeing that other people simply move on. "For us, for his wife and child, there is no moving on. There is living on with him." Not a moment goes by during the day when she is not affected by it.

Lawsuit Against Her Mother-in-Law

The pre-recorded interview aired just days after it became public that Tenisha Warner has sued her late husband's mother in the U.S. states of Georgia and California. The family trust is managed by Pamela Warner as trustee. According to a complaint from DeKalb County in Georgia, which "People" has obtained, the widow is demanding more than 1.2 million dollars. The basis is a prenuptial agreement from May 2022, in which the actor committed to a life insurance policy of one million dollars in favor of his wife. However, he never took out the policy.
