Homer Gere jokes about Kaia Gerber: Their parents were married

Homer Gere (26) and Kaia Gerber (24) star in the series "The Shards". The two only met shortly before filming began - even though his father Richard Gere (76) was married to her mother Cindy Crawford (60) around 30 years ago, before either of them was born. That their children are now working together is "really funny", Homer Gere told "E! News".

Despite their shared family history, the celebrity offspring had never met before. "Two weeks before, we met with the rest of the cast at a bar and became friends. It's kind of weird", Gere continued. "We became friends as colleagues before we started working, and she's become a really close friend. It was lovely working with her." For both of them, their situation is "completely normal".

Gerber, for her part, raved about her colleague. "It was so lovely working with him", she said. "He's so wonderful. He's so funny. He makes me laugh and he's the best scene partner ever. It's a very supportive environment and we became very close during this process."

Dream couple of the nineties

For four years, her mother Cindy Crawford and his father Richard Gere were considered one of the most glamorous couples in the world, before divorcing in 1995. The supermodel eventually married Rande Gerber (64) in 1998, and Kaia was born in 2001. Richard Gere married actress Carey Lowell (65) in 2002, who had given birth to their son Homer two years earlier. That marriage ended in 2016. Today, Gere is married to Alejandra Silva (43).

For some fans, the Gere-Gerber pairing promptly sparked hopes for a new Hollywood dream couple. However, that won't happen: Kaia Gerber has been together with actor Lewis Pullman (33), son of Bill Pullman (72), since early 2025.

"The Shards" is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis and tells the story of a group of privileged high school friends in Los Angeles in 1981 who are terrorized by a serial killer. For Kaia Gerber, this comes full circle, as series creator Ryan Murphy once gave her her "very first job", she told "The Hollywood Reporter". The series launches in Germany on August 6 on Disney+.
