The band Alphaville has canceled two performances. The group announced this on Instagram. Affected are the gigs at the "Forever Young Festival" in Vienna last Friday and at "Die 80er Live in Gelsenkirchen" on today's July 25th. Alphaville has to cancel the performances "due to injury", according to the post.
"This decision is anything but easy for us. We were very much looking forward to spending these two evenings together with you. We look forward to seeing you again soon, healthy and full of energy", the group's Instagram post continues. In an attached video, singer Marian Gold (72) revealed the exact reason for the cancellation. He explained there that he was sorry the concerts had to be canceled.
He had "unfortunately broken a rib" and was therefore not fit for the stage, he added. "I hope we'll see each other at other concerts", the singer continued. Fans have since left numerous wishes for recovery in the comments section. The group's next performances are scheduled for July 31st in Bremen and August 1st in Weimar.
Alphaville against Donald Trump
Recently, the German pop band made headlines when it strongly objected to Donald Trump (80) using their world hit "Forever Young". The U.S. President had shared on his social media platform Truth Social a video created by artificial intelligence showing his aging process from childhood to the present in time-lapse. This clip was set to the melancholic anthem by the band from Münster without the creators' permission.
In a clear statement on Instagram, the group, which also became internationally famous for the hit "Big in Japan", made it clear that it does not support Trump's political views in any way and even largely abhors them. The band announced it would take legal action to have the post immediately removed from the internet.
