Even a world star like Anthony Hopkins (88) apparently still has unfulfilled dreams. Now a special wish is coming true for the Hollywood actor: Hopkins has signed a record deal with the classical label Decca Classics. On July 10, he will release his single Bracken Road there.
The original composition is the first preview of Hopkins' album Life Is A Dream, which is scheduled to be released in August. On it, the two-time Oscar winner has compiled personal pieces that were created over a period of more than six decades, as reported by the British Guardian. Bracken Road was reportedly inspired by Hopkins' childhood in Margam, Wales, in the 1940s. He had already composed the piece in 1963.
I have been composing music all my life
Hopkins has always been considered a great lover of classical music. Music was my first longing, my first wish, the actor explains. He has been composing all his life, and some pieces have accompanied him for decades. He keeps returning to them again and again. Hopkins described the collaboration with Decca as the honor of my life.
On Life Is A Dream, Hopkins has compiled a total of twelve pieces. In addition to Bracken Road, it also includes My Fatherland, with which the actor wants to honor his humble beginnings. I am my father's son, the baker's son, explains the Das Schweigen der Lämmer star.
However, Hopkins' music is not entirely new to his fans. His composition And the Waltz Goes On was premiered by André Rieu (76) in 2011. The album Composer featuring works by the actor was also released as early as 2012.
